Simultaneous Interpreting
Top-level solution
Also known as simultaneous translation, simultaneous interpreting is a complex processing activity in which the interpreter receives the message through their headphones in a soundproof booth and instantly relays it to the audience via a specialist sound system (headphones, microphone, console).
The audience can listen to the conference in their own language without interruption via multi-channel receivers. It is currently the most commonly-used type of interpreting for conferences and seminars.
Since simultaneous interpreting requires a lot effort and concentration, it is usual for two interpreters to work as a team, swapping every 20 or 30 minutes during the course of the day.
